The artwork reflects on flight and journey, physical and metaphysical. The title is a reference to the motto of Loudoun County, “I byde my time”.

Based on an archetypal labyrinth, the artwork appears simple, yet is complex when negotiated. The unicursal path turning towards and away from the centre unexpectedly is a visual and experiential expression of the nature of journey and destination. Surrounding the labyrinth are herons flying outwards from the centre, evoking another pattern of movement, one about flight.
